New 2009 GTS owner, first post
Hello! I just bought a 2009 red GTS Lancer with sun and sound and navigation. Pretty much fully loaded. I have been driving her for 3 days now and I must say that I am really impressed. It has one of the best factory sound systems I have ever heard. As for handling and acceleration, not bad for a naturally aspirated car with stock suspension. (my other car is a 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder with an aftermarket turbo/intercooler setup, no comparison....).
One thing that is starting to drive me crazy though is how quite she is. First thing on my list is some type of exhaust/intake to add a little sound to the engine. Now I don't want too much noise, the reason I bought this car was to have a nice daily driver, my MR2 is the loud, obnoxious speed demon. Any suggestions?
Will the Navi/stereo system play MP3s off a DVD? I found one other post on this forum where someone said they were pretty sure it would not. Nothing confirmed though. I guess I will have to give it a go myself and post the findings if nobody else can confirm yay or nay.
Anyways, that about it for now.

You may want to look into the Evo X Audio section because I think I remember seeing something from that side recently about how someone had figured out how to unlock it, but hadn't yet figured out the rest.
As for the sound question, the Greddy TiC exhaust sounds great, no matter what year of Lancer it goes on (mine is older). Any intake will unleash some growl from the loss of the airbox, but I recommend one from a reputable company: Injen, AEM, Road///Race, etc. to ensure that it is making power. If that's not musical enough of an interior for you, solid motor mounts will add some high speed percussion to all the little plastic pieces in the dash, lol.

Got this from another site ... Works on my car, I can now watch DVDs while riding
so I'm guessing it would work to write songs onto DVD now.
1) Check system version
Press and hold the NAVI and SET buttons until the Service Mode menu is displayed. On this menu there is an option for Versions Indication. The version information that is important is the loader ( works on BLD-NR-261UM 1.09 ) and application ( works on 00.20.68 )
2) if you have the indicated version, download the following file:
http://www.deltainfo.ro/manuals/mits...MMCS-261UM.rar
3)decompress this file using a RAR utility such as WINRAR
4)use an image burning software such as Nero to burn the resulting ISO to a CD-R (note there is also a README that is packaged in the RAR file along with the ISO)
5)start your car and once the MMCS has finished starting up, insert the disc created in the previous step.
6) The system will check the disc and display a message that there is an update to load. Choose YES to apply the patch.
7) The system will display a progress bar as the patch is applied and reboot itself when finished.
8)After the reboot, the system will display the update message again after checking the disk. This time, choose NO as the system has already been patched.
9) remove the disc and enjoy your DVD-in-motion. (note be careful and don't crash trying to watch a movie and drive at the same time. Is good for passengers so that long trips are not as boring.)

Thanks very much for the info, I really need to check these while at home and not at work so I can dowload and try that firmware update.
I plan to go with a new intake first to see if gives the extra sound I am looking for. Don't think I will be trying the motor mounts......ever. Did those to my MR2......felt exactly like a go-cart. Had to take em out cause the vibration was driving me crazy.

No luck with the hack to the MMCS. I have the same loader version but my application version is 00.30.18 I think. Not sure about the last two numbers. It seems I have a newer version app loaded and it does not see the version I downloaded as an update and ignores the disc. Oh well.
You are the man Geaux, downloading now. Here is the download link incase anyone reads this so they don't have to check the audio section.

Well, just tried the latest hack for the newer app. Burned it 3 times on to CD, once at 48x, once at 16x, (both on Nero) and once again with EMC. None of them worked. Each time the MMCS would come up with an error, unable to focus. Is it just me??
