Question For those with US Lancer

After reading the article in Import tuner and seeing what was spent I want to ask all who have put on an intake, exhaust or both if it is worth the 5 HP they get out of it?

Is the change that significant for 5 hp? I am just wondering if I should save up for a turbo and get it all at once. I want to know how satisfied everyone is.

Is the dyno rated at crank or wheel? If at wheel, it accounts for HP lost from tranny.

Are you comparing whether you should get an intake, exhaust or save and get a turbo?
If you have the money you would be crazy not to go with the turbo, we are talking substantial gains over just an intake and exhaust set-up. But keep in mind that you are going to need a lot of extras:
Just for starters: New clutch, 3" exhaust, fuel pump, fuel pressure riser, BOV, Intercooler (If the kit comes without it), probably some sort of fuel management, turbo timer, guages, boost controller, and trust me there's more.

5hp aint bad, but it isn't going to knock your socks off and push you back against the seat. 5hp at the crank will probably translate into about 2 or 3 at the wheels. Your looking at about $600 for a good cat back and intake, so that's about $300 per HP

Good luck,

Justin

There's no way an Injen CAI is giving you 5hp at the wheel by itself. That's all I have to say about that.

I agree with Hobie. Take more to bring out the full potential of each mod. Seems Busher stuff could be more H.P. for less $$ though.

I've learned long time ago that basic bolt-ons don't do diddly squat on N/A engines, especially ones with low hp ratings. My recommendation, if you wanna go fast get a turbo +upgrades, other than that it wouldn't be worth the hp you get per bolt-on.

Sorry to be that guy but it is spelled "Buschur". I have his parts all over my Talon and I have been over his house a couple times. Great products. If anything goes on my lancer, it will be Buschur Racing. In fact that's part ot the reason I bought the car!

Original

This is getting funny but I was asking people if they enjoyed what they got from their mods. Was it worth it to them?

Just voice your opinion.
