well i really love my lancer but it just does not enough power for me so i was thinking about selling it and getting a gm car with the ecotec engine what i have read and seen at the drags it is the badest engine around. just check out this link

i mean lets say i put a turbo on the lancer, cam, nos, header, light weight flywheel, and under drive pulleys what would the 1/4 mile times be? any ideas cause i have a friend who sunk 4-5 thousand into his new 2.2 ecotec cavy and is running low 12's.

right now i have exhaust, intake, vogtland springs and altezza tail lights

 

with those mods you could run mid 13's to lo 13's my guess. that car is an all out dragster and probably cannont be compared to any road car. No doubt there are faster cars out there but then again a lancer wasnt designed to be the be all end all of cars to go fast in a straight line. If that is what you wanted you should have gotten a used crx and dropped in about 6 grand and you would be right up there.

 

that is the last thing I want i hate hondas that is why i chose the lancer dont get me wrong i love my lancer i just have a need four speed and the other thing that makes me mad is that they are already changing the body style. what is that about? im already out dated.

 

and the other thing that had me thinking was when i got beat by a 93 escort gt i dont know how that happened it must had been a sleeper but but i was awake lol.

 

Get the 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4. It's 20,000 and the has 215 Horse. Plus aftermarket parts are insane for this car. Also the 2004 have the LSD stock. Check that car out!!!!

That's awesome. That little car had way to much torque at those front wheels to NOT have one. I guess they finally listened to everyone out there. It really is quite possibly the best car for the money.

 

the srt-4 may be fast, but you are still driving a neon.

the ecotec platform has a lot of potential theoretically, but they are designing a new block for drag racing because of the problems they are having with the ecotec. I couldn't find any info on it from a quick google search, but i know i read it somewhere.

 

I agree PJAL84. FKRZO yea the looks are not great. I love the front of the car, but the back lacks potential. However I am sure a body kit will be made soon for it, and it will look a lot better. You can't say that the car isn't awesome.

 

Why does someone always have to say that when srt-4 talk starts "It's still a neon".....Really it's not even that close. It shares as much in common with the SRT-4 as the Lancer does with the EVO and we all know the EVO is no lancer.

 

people say that because of the poor build quality of past neons. i had a 95 neon sport, it was my first car and it wasn't long before i was having problems with it. By the time it 1998 it had like 80k miles on it and i'm driving it one day down the highway... KABLAAM! bent rod... i didn't know much about cars at the time except some old school muscle car ****. i thought i could just take the engine apart and replace the rod. i went to a reputable engine shop locally and asked about it... the guy told me i had to get a new engine. That is not an uncommon story. i don't know anyone with a 1995 neon that doesn't AT LEAST have a constant oil leak.

You are right, the lancer es/ls/oz is not an evo. however, lancers do not have a horrible reputation for quality!

 

Seriously you people are pissing me off The new Neon is amazing. Test drive it, then talk. Yes the old Neon's have a bad rep, but I still see them all over the place. Anyway the SRT-4 has a Mitsubishi Turbo, along with other parts probably. It a sweet car, and if you go on the Dodge forums you will hear nothing bad about the car. Of coarse it takes time to wear the car and then take notice to things that aren't good on the car. Seriously though stop killing this car. It's totally different than a regular Neon. Do some reading on it, and ytou will find that this car is amazing. Check msn.com auto's out and read the review. Nothing bad to say about the car and it's well worth the money. Performance is amazing along w/ handling and suspension. It's not a piece of crap.

 

i test drove it. turbo dosnt kick in till like 4 grand and then lets off a t 6. no good. right when your getting into it the damn rev limiter kicks in. yeah, its fast, but its still ugly.
