Getting a new car... 06 Ralliart vs 09 GTS

Ok, so I'm replacing a 06 RA.

I think everybody will agree that it wouldn't be fair to compare the 06 RA with the new 09 RA, since it's a completely different beast (well, the difference is about 10K $ canadian!).

So, then, how does the new 09 GTS compares to the 06 Ralliart?

The 4B12 is newer technology and lighter than the iron block 4G69, for about the same output. But what about the tranny, suspension, brakes, exhaust? Is the GTS superior?

I'm going to test drive the GTS soon, but I'd appreciate your inputs and comments.

But to assist you,
09 R/A > 09 GTS

09 GTS > 06 R/A

And i am coming from an 08 GTS.

Why don't you buy an Evo VIII or IX?

He's from Montreal, we never got the VIII or IX in Canada, he'd have to import it.

Importing isn't as easy as people make it out to be. Hell, I would just buy an Evo X if it was me.

I would get the gts. One reason is because of how difficult it seems it is to locate ralliart parts already, the other because the new lancer really seems like a great platform, is having a bunch of aftermarket support and it just looks better.

Yeah the Evo X is the first canadian Evo ever. As far as importing is concerned, previous Evos are all blacklisted by Transport Canada and will be refused at the border. I know some people seem to get around regulations and somehow manage to import blacklisted vehicles (I've seen one or two Scions around) but I have no idea how they do it.

The 09 RA is 33K canadian base MSRP, it's a bit out of reach for me at this point.

Chino, you say 09 GTS > 06 RA, I'd be interested in knowing in which areas the GTS is superior. I've owned only 4 cars in my life, but I personnally thought the 06 RA was a pretty nice daily driver for the price.

There was a boost in hp from the 08 to 09 GTSs', the 08, which is the year they introduced the new design and engine, only had 152 hp which FELT pretty much the same as the previous generations before the new model debuted.
(power-wise; not performance)

Due to additional weight on the 08 made the power seem the same as older Lancers.
The 09 now has more power @ 162hp and comes with more features then the 08
e.g. now you 09 gets standard ASC control and HID's (optional)

The car has been nominated Tech Car of the Year for a reason.
Navi, 30GB H.Drive, MP3/DVD outputs, Touchscreen (voted one of the best)

You get the idea.

None of the previous Lancers had that as options except aftermarkets.
It's a COMPLETELY brand new model of the lancer.

The chassis is strong if not better then the EVOIX. (and that is quote from all mags)
The new aluminum engine is lightweight and 'up to par' to reach US emissions and econimical standards.
I really liked the way the car took curves. That was very strong point for me.
Curves and overall handling. It was great. And all the TECH in it? Can't go wrong.

Anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
But the overall impression was that.
I mean, I really liked my GTS, but I bought mine mostly to trade in for the X.
Which changed to a R/A.

yea go to the specs page on mitsubishicars.com and look at the actual differences between the GTS and the new Ralliart. most of the suspension, brakes, etc.. are all the exact same. The ralliart is just an extra 8k for AWD, and a turbo, thats pretty much it.

I think the MSRP is about 24K... and then you have all of the fees taxes and interest
