Rim of the World Rally/Evo info
Hey all! Just got back last night from the Rim of the World Rally in Palmdale, CA. Not too bad of a time. Thought I was in a Subi nightmare with all the WRX's competing and all the WRX owners bringing their cars. Did get a chance to get some nice pics of some Evos there though. Had an V, a few 6's, Rhys Millen's 6.5, and 2 VII's...Not to mention the Lancer RMR that was competing as well (tried to post some of them, but wouldn't let me). I was really looking forward to seeing Team
running the Evo VII for the first in the pro rally--Rod Millen driving, but ended up having some major mechanical problems in the first stage...Gearbox problems, and a wheel stuck sideways. Did talk to one of the team
mechanics who works on the VII and the RMR Lancer. Said...get this...when the VII does come out, it will come out in 2 models, the RS and the RS2. The RS will be the same as the jpn models....bare bones. RS2 will more or less be the GSR. Both the mech and a
rep said it expect it around Jan, will still be sub 30k, and still have the Recaros, Brembos, etc. But like we all know...this is just what I heard, no idea how much truth their is to any of this. But I was bored and figured I would share all that with ya. Take er' easy!

Sounds to me like he doesnt really know what he is talking about on the upcoming U.S. versions of the EVO.... sounds like he was just doing a comparison, to what he knows as the EVO RS, and RS II...they will probably give them some wierd name here... or just call them an EVOLUTION, and not update us when the VIII, IX etc... come out in Japan.but who really cares....As long as we get our EVO!
Yeah, he had also said that it still might come out here as the evo VIII. I asked the mitsu rep at the display tent about when we might expect to see a OFFICIAL press release from mitsu about the evo...and of course he had no clue.

Might be worth a shot if your really interested in getting the Evo. I believe the majority of the dealers are taking $500 deposits to get on the list. That deposit should be refundable as well. Give er a shot!

heck I ponder going over and asking if I can do a presign up for it at the local mistu dealer.
