Big Scratch on my door.

THeres a scratch on my driver door and it goes through the paint to the metal and its starting to rust. What steps do i take to fix it? Also what products work best? Where can i get paint that matches.

You'll need to have the rust sanded down to bare metal and then primed to prevent it from rusting through or rusting again after it's painted.

You can but Mitsu touch up paint at the dealer, but after a few days in the sun, you'll notice that none of the colors are an exact match (god help you if you've got thunder grey).

Your best best is to pay a shop the 200 bucks it'll cost to sand, prime, color-match and clearcoat the damage. Otherwise in a couple years you'll have these neat rust stains running down the side.

First, chill You posted at 2 am and here it is only 10am. How many of us jackasses do you think have lame *** jobs that let them surf evom all day? Besides me
you're probably gonna want to bite the bullet and buy the color match paint for your car from your dealership. It's about $10 and it'll prob take a few days to get in. It's a glorified bottle of nail polish.
Next go to your local autobody supply place. Talk to them, show them the scratch and see if they recommend a garnet paper or crocous paper to remove the rust that's formed. Ask what they'd use to seal the scratch (basecoat/primer product ), and see if they'll show you the best way to layer the color paint into the scratch.

then again, some detail places will do this for you (for their fee of course) and that would prob be cheaper than buying the stuff to DIY.
