I see no problem with this idea. In fact, I think and know it is a good one. I have seen this done with a Nissan Sentra. The owner put in the 3.5L V-6 from the Altima into it. It was a tight fit, but the car runs great. I know I am comparing a two different cars, but it can be done.

edit:

It isn't the best picture, but it is the only picture of it that I have.

hmmm, so it will work. Yeah people keep telling me to just buy an evo. But this car has sentimental value. It was my buddies car and we were going to fix it all up when he bought it brand new in 03. Then we both decided to join the Army. Well I don't need to get into detail about what happened in Afghanistan but I ended up coming home and he didnt. So when I got home I bought the car off of his mom for like a grand or 1200 just to get rid of it. So now I want to build it all up like how him and I had talked about.....sorry for the sob story.

But thats good that it will work. I am just wondering what engine mitsubishi makes thats a v6 and will fit into it. I was hoping and praying perhaps the eclipse engine would work.

you will need a rediculious amount of money to make it work if it would even work. But good luck on it.

I'm not sure what is going on with the mods these days but Kurt is just messing with you. No it will not work. Next time before you buy a car do some research on it. You can not easily bolt up a V6 or any other engine into your Lancer and there is no such thing as a AWD kit. I suggest you do some reading up.

how come you don't follow your instructions... if you had read his previous posts, you would know that the car has sentimental value, and he only bought it for 1-1.2k

Well then, only because sentiment is involved, anything is possible! Hell, I think that you can buy a bolt on kit from the place that Paul Walker worked at in The Fast and the Furious that makes your Lancer fly. There's also a ebay engine mod chip that will let you submerge your car under water for fifteen seconds. After that though your serously in trouble.

Is this going to off-topic because this is going to get whored out soon.

No it won't. And as an asside from those being asses right now, including myself, I seriously suggest you learn about what you have. To put it bluntly you have an economy car that does not take well to bolt-ons and does not have the same ability to accept engine transplants like the Civic or other imports.

I would start simple and perhaps choose a different car if you have higher asperations for speed or handling. The Lancer will never be on the same level as an Evo or many other cars but you can make it faster, handle better, or better looking. You're only real limit is your skill and wallet.

This site does offer serious help once you have a handle on what it is you are looking for and a better knowledge about what you're getting into. Don't let others discourage you and think realistically about your ride.

Just turbo it. Cost will be less than a swap and you can finish it in a weekend. Virtually, double the h.p. too. Contact us if you have any questions. Thanks

Yes you can do it but the main problem is sourcing the parts, I don't believe any of the possible "donor" cars were available in the NA market which means you'd have to import them from Japan/Phillipines/etc. It is possible however. Other things to consider though are weight distribution, the Lancer was designed for a light 4 banger engine, not a heavy V6. There's also the issues of cooling, traction, durability, repairability, etc. If you just want a faster Lancer, you could always turbo it. A supercharger kit did exist but it was a gong show and was discontinued. If you want a unique car, what about a cool paint job? You could go for an army theme complete with camo paint, gunmetal wheels, etc. the sky is the limit really.

On a serious note dude, listen to the guys here. Ever since 03 I don't think any one (maybe one person) has bolted up a V6 to the car. Too much money for ok results. It's just not worth the money.

Now I'm not saying your car is not worth the money. You bought it for $1200 and thats a deal! Use the money you saved to mod the hell out of the car. If you want my opinion go turbo buddy. It will be more predictable in reliabilty than motor swap that almost no one here can help you with.

If you want a turbo build you have 2 good options, Speed Corps and Road Race Motorsports. They both can pt you in at least the 260 hp range if you wanna but you can go to 300 hp if you have the $$$.

Also one of the main reasons people don't go V6 on a Lancer because the motor makes the car front heavy and basically eliminates one of the main things Lancers have going for it and thats handling.

I say go to the Lancer forums and like others said, just read up man. There is no other way if you want to do it right. The people there will help you.

I'm agreeing with Bandit for the most part on this topic, but if you really want to put a bigger motor in it, I say go for it..

I've seen mirages with twin turbo 3000gt motors, and even one with a viper v10 in it...
