09 2.4L exhausts
im waiting for injen to produce some parts for our 2.4L 09's most in particular the CAI from INJEN but anyways so OVER ALL what would u guys prefer to get the Injen exhaust when it comes out or RRM or WORKS? which one? i just want one good final answer so i can get the freakin part already lol
well a high flow cat is still street legal, ive been on some threads myself and the info i found is that WITH our engines were better off leaving some of that backpressure because if we get TOO much flow thru exhaust we lose low end torque and that is really where our engines are lacking. so with my plan of going rrm header and a headerback with a high flow cat..ill lose some of whatever the low end torque i do have, but will still gain high end power...my hopes are to be runnin on tracks..not autocross..that setup would not benefit anyone with autocross ambitions.
i love my works so its up to u, i only got the works cuz i know well be stucking waiting a WHILE before 2.4L spec parts come out fron injen, so the works is to hold me over wit the tuner bug lol. as for design? straight piping is for high end power, and with our motors we end up losing a lot of low end torque, so we need some backpressure. rrm claims that works' design actually makes u LOSE power because there is no muffler aka less backpressure. they will hopefully dyno one at thier next lancer meet. well see. supposed claim is 5-7hp gain on the Exhale...altho on the site it doesnt say that, im still skeptical myself if that number came directly from works.
why didnt u guys just get the axle back exhaust part for Injen that fits both 08 and 09 back at speedcorps.com? and does anyone know exactly how much gain the RRM axle back gives cuz thats one major thing thats stopping me from getting it cuz they dont say anythign about dyno charts
I'm gonna be ordering the Magnaflow cat-back pretty quick here. The vendor I'm getting it from said that if it doesn't fit the 2.4L, he will give me a full refund.
i've heard different things from different people about the RRM and Works axlebacks.
The rrm seems like a more sensible choice...comes with an actual muffler, whereas the works is just a straight pipe.
As for sound, you can find sound clips of both exhausts on youtube or on vendor websites.
It's really a toss up, IMHO. You won't be getting that much of a gain off of axelbacks, and they both will produce about the same amount of gain. I think it's a matter of preference between the two shops, works or RRM.
Good luck with your choice and whatever you get, let us know what u think!

RRM Axleback Exhaust vs Magnaflow Catback Exhaust ?
