Megan shifter question

I'm new here so, first off hi.

I've searched the forums and looked everywhere, I have even went far as calling megan and asking, but they were unsure. I have seen people post they they have installed a megan shifter into es models etc... but I'm unable to find any megan shifters for the model. I have a 02 lancer es, and want a megan short shifter. I thought I saw a post mentioning that the evo 8 ones will work. I would assume that this would be the short shifter they offer for the 00-xx eclipse and 02+ evo8.

Does anybody have knowledge of whether it is compatible, or has anybody installed one into a es?

I was just looking for a megan shifter, but the fidanza one I think will do the job... thanks for the info I must have bypassed that one when I was on their site the other day.

Yea if you're putting in a short shifter put in some new bushings while you're at it. End link bushings are under the hood and i can't remember the name of the others, but they install right under the shifter

Yeah.. been looking but having a harder time finding bushing kits for a 02 es.. most kits i've come across are evo VIII and IX... dunno if these are the same for the es, and hate to drop 30-50 bucks without knowing for sure.

Save yourself some money and use washers.

use the washers instead of new bushings? Interesting, how would these hold up, and would they just replace the stock bushings? not sure I understand totally.

I had custom washers made and dropped those in, they're stainless steel.
Cost me $0 because I know people. lol

Just make sure to get the exact measurements if you're going that route.

If you are doing underhood bushings make sure to lube them up. I used some anti-sieze but anything temp tolerant and durable will do. No lube? You will probably have an incredibly notchy shifter

^Some grease will do the trick. I didn't use any lubricant when I installed them and noticed the shifter starting to stick. Removing them to grease them was a pain cause they were so stuck. Now it shifts like a charm though

Also remember to grease the short shifter when you install it

Yeah I'm planning to drown it, don't think you can over grease it. Figure the better greased the smoother it will operate.
