just weighing my options

so.

today my oil started leaking. and the oil pan is def busted from the exhaust hitting it (being too close)
just weighing my options-lancer-011.jpg

the guy at the muffler shop gave the estimate of $300 for
weld of the oil pan
putting a dimple in the exhaust- to prevent in future

i was thinking about getting a new pan for $50 (or so?), then buying a custom curved pipe (he said he could do for $150) to get around the oil pan (just the small "L" shaped section in the exhaust). since i dont have welding or any sort of high heat tools at my house

i mean it saves about $100, so it sounds like a good idea.. just wanted to hear if u all think anything different.

thanks a lot!

sounds like a good idea to do, check the junkyards, you may be able to get a lower oil pan for next to nothing

I would go for replacing the oil pan. Seems cheaper and I would go for the least expensive route to fix such a minor thing.

Yeah, that's what sucks about the RRM kit. Mine was against the lower oil pan but a took a good ol hammer and dented the down pipe. I would have never thought it could do that though. I'll have to keep an eye on mine.

As far as going to a junk yard...good luck. If you can find a junked Lancer anywhere close to here let me know cause I want some thing myself.

But as far as options. Dent up that DP or get that custom one. Check at Mitsu and see how much the lower oil pan is. It might not be that much...
