Performance vs Looks

Hey everyone,

I'm new to these forums so bare with me, i have one simple question that i could use some 2nd opinions about. I'm just starting to mod up my 04 lancer but i can't decide what i should start with.

I've considered performance...

HKS Carbon Titanium Muffler
Custom piping
Headers
K&N Cold Air Intake - 69 Series
high flow cat conv
(I'm sure im missing some things)

or do i go for looks...

RA Lipkit
RA Spoiler
Wheels
audio system?

Would the Cold Air & HKS Muffler be the right choice
or
The RA lipkit & spoiler to give it the true RA look

Right now im leaning towards a performance part as my next piece, i've already installed 6000k HID lights along with OEM RA Fogs... oh and tinted windows! =]

Anyways, if anyone has some time to kill and would be willing to throw out any and all suggestions. I'd really appreciate it. Even anything that i didn't mention here in the thread would be a good read. =]

none of those performance mods are gonna get you any power anyway, so you might as well just make the car look nicer.

Short of a turbo, nothing is gonna add any power

Go for looks. If u want performance stuff make sure to get them used. They're not worth it new. From my experience all my stuff is mostly use and I get the best bang for the buck with what I have. check the for sale sections and you can get some sweet deals. Other than turbo nothing really will give a dramatic increase in power in our cars,

i think the best mod is a tune for your car vs all that exhaust and CAI thing u have in mind

a tune won't even do anything. You can add all the parts and tune all you want, but without a turbo the most you're gonna get is 10hp.

I disagree. With similar parts and a tune I made nearly 100whp more than stock.

EDIT: You have a lancer? Not an Evo? I spoke thinking you had an Evo.

lol yeh, the evo is a very different machine.
The 4G94 is an N/A engine and just doesn't respond well to modification. Turbo is the only way to go on this car. And if you can't afford that then sticking to suspension and cosmetic mods is best

It's true...

Our Lancers can handle pretty well though, so if you get some good
suspension mods, i.e.- Coilovers, you could have some fun.

After a turbo, coilovers are the next best mod to get for the Lancer. The lancer can actually handle pretty well with modification. If you are into autocross i would definitely suggest getting a set of Megan coilovers, they are the best bang for the buck

We're talking about a Lancer, not an Evo.
