can anyone tell me why a 2003 lancer a/c compressor will come on for two minutes then shut down?

 

could be several things:
Bad a/c clutch, bad thermo switches (on the evap core)
bad dual pressure sensor (passenger side engine bay)

This is what i think is the problem, though, because I had a similar incident.

clogged, and dirty evap core.

mine was dirty, and the a/c was actually freezing up. it's not hard to clean it though, I did it myself, but look into it.

 

i just took mine out and said screw it! but my condenser was bad and i didnt want to get another one
