Question Abs ?

why is there no ABS option on the OZ-Rally, but only on the LS?
if you "tweak" your OZ-Rally with some performance parts, it could be good to have an ABS, just in case... if it could be disabled it would be great also, but anyway, no ABS option?!?

ABS are overrated. Except on slippery roads they will lengthen your braking distances. The only advantage they provide is that they don't lock. They are avaiable on the LS because it (suprise) stands Luxury Sedan...which is a bit of an overstatement, but I think you get my point. There's really no need for them unless you're prone to stomping the brake like a cockroach.

I disabled the ABS in my car. I find it useless, unsafe, and it increases stopping distances. If you learned how to brake correctly you can always beat an abs equipped car out. There are so many comparisons done like this. The only real adv ABS seems to have is in high speed straightline emergency type stops.

I know an ABS is good almost only for wet road... and in Québec when there is a lot of snow, or worst, ice, on the road, that ABS is useless and your stopping distance is longer. I don't have an ABS on my car and I know how to break to not lock the wheel
I was just wondering why there is no ABS option on the OZ, it looks like it's a "marketing" thing

Really? ABS has saved my car more than once. Reguardless the road condition. When the wheels lock up, traction is lost and stopping distance is increased, you also lose the ability to steer. I admit that 1st gen ABS was not without its flaws but the newer, multi-channel ABS is really effective, thats why evo and most cars above $20k comes with ABS.

To keep the price low Mitsu didn't include it, The "focus groups" must not of thought it was a worthwhile feature.

If you know how to drive, you won't be locking the brakes up on a non abs car. It's amazing how much a racing school can help I so wanna do another one it has been so long since my last one

you're right. However, U.S. is filled with women drivers and other retarded drivers who slams the brakes without thinking, so I think ABS is a good thing since so many ppl in U.S. dont really know how to drive

I think ABS is a good thing. If it wasn't, you would not find it on almost every new car. Sports cars, luxury cars and trucks. Every company has adopted them, from Kia to Ferrari.

It's there so the people with no skills don't go sliding off the road. ABS, traction control, stability control, etc are all crutches for people that can't drive. Imagine SUVs running amuk without abs, traction control, and stability control

The sad thing is, the so called "people with no skills" represent about 95% of American drivers.

Hey...our GMC doesn't have any of those but ABS and I've never triggered it... Big SUV's aren't that hard to use they just require constant input and manipulation.
