Considering Lancer GTS 2010, need help please
Hi everyone, I am new here and new to Mitsubishi cars. I tried looking for Mitsubishi Lancer forums online but I couldn't really find any besides this one. I have never owned one and I am really interested in the 2010 Lancer GTS model. I have some questions that I am hoping some of you can help me with.
1) How is the audio on the car? I wanted to know if getting the Sun & Sound Package package was worth it for the audio or not.
2) How reliable is the car? Any problems that any of you have had with the 2009 or 2010 models?
3) I want the CVT model and wanted to know how the automatic handles. Any problems with automatic transmissions?
Thank you in advance

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
1. Pretty good. I like it.
2. No issues on the 08. 45k on there.
3. Dunno. Have the 5MT. The DE we had was the CVT. I am not a fan of them. Boring to drive.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Great to see you guys haven't had any problems.
It's hard for me to drive a manual due to a leg problem. That's why I have to go with the automatic.
Can anyone help me with the audio question? Has anyone tested the audio with and without the sun and sound package?
Also, (I mean no offense by this) is this the best forum for Lancer discussion or is there another forum?
Thanks again

You should get the upgraded audio package. I have the base audio system and it's very weak.
Also as others said, I've had no reliability issues too.
I've never heard of anyone having trouble with the CVT (other than those who have concerns if it can handle the power after turbocharging the car).

i just my lancer GTS 2010, it's awesome!
1- the audio is not too bad, if you have the extra money go for the sun and sound package
2- the car is perfect no reliability issue
3- my GTS is manual, not sure how the CVT and auto hold up but i heard that the CVT and auto are slow you wont get the full power from the GTS.

I just got my 2010 Lancer GTS with the Sun and Sound package and it was well worth the extra $$$. I've had no issues with the car itself so far. I did get the CVT version and it's been performing fine for me.
with what Jimmy and the rest of the posters say, the upgraded sound provides some nice thump. it's not going to bust any ear drums, but it definitely moves air and i'm glad that i went that route.
i also sprung for the touring package with the leather/heated seats, xenon HID's, rain sensing wipers and i couldn't be happier with those amenities... it helps provide a bit of luxury/comfort at an affordable price.

I have an 09 Sportback GTS, with CVT. It works great for day to day driving, and if I need to be a bit aggressive the paddle shifter (or stick shift) works great. No good with manuals, so why I went with the CVT. Plus the paddle shifters are fun to play around with......unless you forget its in manual at an intersection.
I'm not an audio nut, but the basic audio system is decent enough for me, but the upgraded system is noticably better.
As for reliability, no problems as of yet (11k km since last August). But I'm not too worried, as this car has the longest warranty in Canada (5/10 years), and so far my dealership has been great to deal with.

I own a 09 Sportback GTS and i absolutely love it. I do a lot of moving around (military) so the back hatch with the seats folded back helps me carry all my gear. Gotta love throwing my bike in the back, no need to take off tires
better yet.. i like rolling with the rear seats permanently folded so i can get a better thump from the sub. it makes a noticeable difference with the leather interior.
to be honest with you I have mine from 2008 no poblems up to now but I always woder If is worth it to make the conversion of the turbo kit instead of just getting the Ralliart even knowing that I hate the transmission I would be great to have a manual ralliart but until then good luck with your decision hope you enjoy your new ride!!!
I'm considering a 2010 Lancer GTS (5 speed MT) in a few months time, maybe around August or so. I have been actively looking at several different sports/sporty compact cars - Civic Si, Mazda 3 GT, Subaru 2.5i sport (not WRX) and Corolla XRS - and I do believe the Lancer GTS has the best combination of looks, features, performance and price that best suits me. A short run-down of what I think of the other cars:
Civic Si - only drinks premium, 3rd gear issues, slightly overpriced and not enough features. Nice 6 speed shifter though, and handling is excellent.
Mazda 3 GT - ugly front fascia is an instant turn-off, interior space feels very cramped for some reason especially in the back. I don't like the placement of the reverse gear on the shifter. Interior door handles are stupidly placed. Side mirrors are too tiny, windshield is too claustrophobic. Nice acceleration and handling.
Subaru Sport - Not bad, good acceleration without paying WRX prices. Boring outer aesthetics and monochromatic interior materials. Fuzzy seats suck. Outer door handles felt too flimsy and like they would come off. Symmetrical AWD is cool though, but I've been told that they can cause additional repair problems several years down the road.
Corolla XRS - Interior is pretty decent, okay acceleration but feels like something is missing. Shifter has horridly long throws and the knob looks like it came out of walmart. Electric power steering is okay, not the greatest. Outer styling looks distinctly like a corolla with extra frippery tacked on (same could be said of the Civic Si, I guess). Engine noise is too muted. On the whole, it just seems to lack the soul of a sporty compact car... can't really pin it down to anything.
So, after looking at all those, I decided to pop in and have a look at the Mitsus.. and I was quite favourably impressed. The 5 year/100km bumper to bumper and 10 year/160km power train warranties were also very nice. The low-end acceleration was just right, the handling felt great and shifting was also good - although I'd probably replace the knob with a weighted aluminum one at the very least, with a short shifter to follow not long after. The list of standard features is also quite impressive.
Which colour do you guys prefer? I see that only white, red and silver are standard options. Black, blue and grey cost extra.
