Just installed RRM SRI intake...
I got my RRM SRI today. I was so pumped when I opened the box that I headed to my friends house, hoping to use his garage cause it was dark out and I don't have one... No such luck. It turns out his garage is trashed right now but he offered to help me install it in front of his house with the aid of flashlights.
It was dark but that wasn't really a problem... It was raining too but not so much that it made it more difficult. Its a fairly straight forward install. Super easy to anyone who is thinking about it. Hardest part was getting one of the bolts out of the old air box in the dark. After that it was a cake walk, even with the rain and darkness and all it only took about twenty five minutes.
This is my first real mod so I am excited and feel like I just lost my virginity... well, not really that good.

PS- Thanks Rock and Gabe at RRM you guys really do kick A$$... keep it up.

congrats man. i felt the same way you did when i got mine. the *****iest part was taking out the bolts of the mas to get the stock airbox out. i didnt even take the mas sensor out coz there's no point.. its not like we had to replace the elbow or anything. hope you like it so far.. enjoy the sound
Oh I do enjoy it... I know it doesn't add any real HP but it sounds really nice. Only thing is when I start up the car it sounds like the engine is gasping for air. Do you get that too and if so is it ok?

What I am concerned about is the sound it is making when I first start the car. It sounds like the engine is choking, like on a lawn mower that isn't getting enough fuel. It goes away after about a second and doesn't come back while I am driving so I guess it is nothing.
Also, to those of you that have the RRM SRI: The kit didn't come with any instructions so I just figured it out by looking at it. I don't know where the rubber strip is suppose to go and if the heat shield is suppose to attach to something, it just seems like it is resting on the fender wall right now. Is that cool?
My other concern was that when I popped open the hood last night, after driving, the intake was hot... thus my question is, what the hell the heat sheild for? What heat is it sheilding the intake from? And, save from having to buying a hood vent or a new hood, is there anyway to get colder air to the intake? Obvisouly the old snorkel on the stock air box is out of the question... maybe I can fashion a home made snorkel...
To the bat cave!

go to home depot (or similar store) and go get some dryer piping, flexible piping roughly 2inch opening if im not mistaken... get a funnel, attach funnel behind little cubby hole in front bumper, attach hose to funnel, route it up through engine to intake, boom... cold air SRI!
And I dunno anything about the RRM one, I have RMR.. neater heatshield and uses stock snorkel for air (I know it works cause filter has more dirt on it where snorkel leads!
