Question Bigger Wheels = Smaller Mileage?

Hey,

The other day i replaced my stock 13"(!) wheels with some 17" superleggeras, all looks sweet. But now im noticing that i get a lot less miles to a tank. Is this normal or is it just cause im driving the **** out of it since getting it back from the shop?

Are the outside (rolling) diameters the same on both tires? If your new tires are larger, then your indicated speed and mileage are both off - you'd actually be going faster and farther than indicated. So while your trip meter says 250 km, you might actually be going 275 km, which would throw your mileage calculations off.

If the outside diameters are the same (pretty tough with a 4" increase) than you are probably right - you're just driving the snot out of the thing!
