HP vs PS

Ok i searched on the web for this information and i havent found good info on it..can someone explain to me the calculations involved in both HP and PS, how the two numbers compare to one another? and the same for the torque numbers for both types (i guess US standard and metric) of readings?

i always read the japanese magazines like Option but when it comes to the power output and torque ratings, i never know how to compare it to HP, something that i understand and can compare to cars over here and my own experience..so if anyone could explain this to me that would be awesome!! thx in advance!

PS

Bar - psi

One bar is 14.5 psi which is atmospheric pressure at sea level.
