Can you see it?

The Mirage is up on the chopping block, but there's no official
word that it won't return next year. Every one we've got this
year we haven't had any trouble selling. They are still a good bit cheaper then the Lancer (DE's that is, we hardly every get or order LS) so there is still a market for them. Word is they may scrap the RS eclipse, and if that's the case, the cheapest Eclipse GS would be just over/at 20000. That would leave room for a nicely equipped 4g64 lancer at around 17-19K. But you are right, it is likely they will just tweak the current Lancer motor.

I was told by my dealer that due to the cross beams buit into the roof there would never be a sunroof on a Lancer. Was he just blowing smoke up my @$$? That was the one option I really wanted.

13,500 miles and going good...anybody doing the recommended 15,000 mile service?

Not again.

By all means, please click Hobie's link. Yes there is a beam,
yes they must have moved it, and yes some people just cut
the beam out to put in their current Lancers. Never say never

Also, it's logical for the Lancer to get 2 motor option, unless reusing the 4g63 option in SOHC format and right engine orientaion. If not, I can't see why Mitsu will market the Lancer like that from the ES to Evo . . . that's a steep jump in marketing.

Of course there's really no need for it at present or until I'm actually putting out a lot of power. Lot's going to go into the car before I decide for sure whether or not to go the high power route.
EXACTLY!!!!
they come with drums becuase they're not fast enough to necessitate rear disks. its a cost saving strategy for Mitsu. They won't come with disks and they don't need em.

Totally agree on the brake front. Don't let that sound like I'm coming down on the Lancer any, but, there are hardly ANY compacts that really need four wheel discs. Even some of the TC'd fours don't really need them. I think if you're wanting to upgrade your brakes (for actual performance, not just aestethics [sp?]), go for those porterfield pads from RRM, and for a little added looks, go with some caliper paint, and possibly just use some chrome, silver, or black paint on the rear drums, whatever your preference. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I'm very well aware.

The point being when my car actually is powerful enough to necessitate more stopping power I plan on doing a conversion. I will have a fast car sooner or later. (More likely later. )

My buddy from Club 3g found out that the Eclipse GS and the Lancer's engine blocks are the same. So with that in mind we could build up our engines similar to the eclipses. But also if any of you guys ever talked to Mitsu before. They are one tuff crowd of people to talk to. They really dont promote "tuning" cars. They are after the Gen X and Y market. While you have Honda and Ford backing up their customers to customize their rides. I think once the Evo hits here our version will be over looked for a while and nothing to big will happen to it.

The break thing just get better pads for now. If you autoX or anything similar then go with 4 disc breaks. For me i'll get RRM breaks when i get more money.

How are they the same? The Eclipse uses a 2.4 L 4G64 and the Lancer uses a 2.0 L 4G94.

Uhm...the 4G64 IS the inline 4 engine from the Eclipse and yes, it is a 2.4L engine. There are two versions putting out 140 and 147 HP but they are still both the 4G64 engine. The V6 is a 3L. So how are the I4 blocks the same?

Dunno lol. I havent read up much on the eclispe. I just took the people at their wod since they tinker around longer with cars than me. I've been at this for about 2 months on the go fast part.

The 3g 4g64 is a different engine block family than the 4g94.

Basically, the 4g64 is in the 4g6x family, and the 4g94 is in the 4g9x family.

As for the 3g GT, it uses the same engine from the 3000SL - 6g72.

2 different engines

the sunroof on the Lancer sounds real enticing...and should have had 2 different engine for the Lancer, specifically for the OZ model...

My .02 cents
