Adios to my lancer with 149k miles?
I have an 03 Lancer OZ with 149,000 miles. Have had it 4 years, bought it with 102,000 miles. Im starting to get concerned,#1 I live in Tulsa,Ok with very bad roads, and potholes, and I bought low profile performance rims from my friend the first year I bought it. Apparently Oklahoma roads dont like them, cause i've spent $1200 this year on tire replacement and wheel repair. Had 2 flat tires in last month, then spent $300 for new tie rods yesterday because they were bad. The only thing I could do there is get a whole new set of stock wheels, but might be hard tracking those down. Replaced radiator in June, spent $400. Lately when its running something doesnt seem right, makes me wonder whats going to go next. Worried ****less. I have $3500 in cred card debt,so my parents are huge against me getting another car right now. Course,im 24 and their 18 hours away. I have a low income to,so if i needed to get a car,it'd be tight financially. The thing is,im just getting more into credit card debt because of this car. I really want to toss this thing to side and sell it before something major happens...what could go wrong down the road?
if you want to clear your CC debt... wait for lancers to drop to 1.8% or 0% financing... and roll in your CC debt. It may raise your payments by 20$/mth... but at least you'll have it taken care of. Just dont accumulate anymore... a CC is for emergencies only. Your savings is what you should be using to buy things... CC.
Simple way to put it... if you have to put it on a CC... you can't afford it. I understand that you might be tight financially...but everyone is in today's day and age.
If you can afford the payments on a Lancer, at least you won't have to worry about fixing it for a while. Im 24 as well, but i have always made sure i have a decent savings before spending any money at all.

I'd say to start to do some of the work yourself, 400 bucks for a radiator, you got ripped off bro. I've seen them for less than 100 bucks shipped and it would only take an hour at most to install. As for tires you got 2 flats and bought new tires? Or were they blown out? As for 300 bucks for tie rods , you got ripped again bro I've seen these for 30-60 bucks each. Checkout your brakes they maybr next.As for preventing further damages I'd stay on track with the oil changes and tire rotations. Other than that, baby her , not racing around, launching, hard braking. etc.

Well,my buddy paid $300-400 for his new tire-rods. Out of $300 I paid $225,alignment was $75. Well how much should I have paid? I got it done at hibdons. Labor was $172.00. yeesh. Guess i dont want to get my new brakes at this place eh?
