i took my grill out of my 06 OZ and modified it a bit (looks great). im gonna put it back in but im possibly thinking about painting the grill the same color as my car. My car is the Thunder Gray. if anyone could give me their opinion on this or even a picture or edited picture that would be great!

Paint it whatever color you want and if don't like it you can repaint it.

 

This is true. Whatever you do its not gonna be permanent, but if you do change it then it just means more time.
Personally, I would probly go with black. I have an 02 ES same color as yours, and I still have the stock grill on. (Casually looking for a new one. ) But if you know what it looks like, its got the chrome outter trim with the inner black crossbeams or whatever. I dont mind it, but Im probly gonna get an all black one or CF, depending on the prices I find. Have fun
