Mostly everyone at LF has a 2002 Lancer, either OZ Rally edition, or ES.

I was reading through some posts and there was someone with an LS model I thought that was odd! I didn't think that actually got people to buy them.

Yes, mechanically its the same exact car, but I really think the ES and LS lancers look anemic compared to the OZ. Thats just my thoughts.

My argument for not getting the OZ! I don't like the 15 inch wheels and didn't like paying 2000 dollars extra for a small wing and ground effects. Also I wanted a black or blue car, my dealer only had a yellow OZ and it would have taken 4 months to order a black one. So I got an ES probally gonna order the RMR rear wing (it's bigger than stock) I think it looks much better.

I look at it, yeah I don't exactly like the 15" wheels either.. But it's something.. When I do go get new one's that could mean extra money toward a new set.. Along with the ground effects.

About the dealer an the lancer's they had. I went to brandon mitsubishi an they had no ES lancers, They had a few LS models, an they had 2 Yellow OZ's (both auto's) and they had 1 black OZ (5-speed) and at the time me not knowing how to drive a 5-speed an my all my dad's objections against me learning during the warrenty just didn't pay off. So I got stuck with an automatic. Not willingly I must say. Yellow car doesn't bother me, I would of also taken black, but either way I'm happy.

I like the OZ just fine, they only thing I really wanted to change was the rims. More than likely I won't go for the kits, I'm cool with how it is.

I totally agree. The dealer tried to get me to buy the OZ, and when he asked why I was dead-set against it, I told him flat out that an extra 2 grand wasn't going to buy me performance, it would buy me "pretty things" that I could buy afterwards, better, with the same money.

If it's got the same powerplant, it's the same car, 15 inch wheels or not. I'm buying 16's for my ES. Tire Rack rules.

do you have the same white gauges as the OZ?
How about the stick shift, is it the same?

I got the ES on the same precepts.... plus, the ES is a bit faster due to the lighter load... not much, but....

However, now with some new experiences, and differences in the two models... it's kinda like Mitsu is having some sort of revenge. The different bolt pattern on the wheels, the different strut/spring mounts (more that) is going to make suspension mods less than Tein SS coilovers almost impossible, unless they are the same as a mirage's, which I cannot get ANY confirmation on. If I end up saving up to get the SS dampers, a body kit, and a new set of 16s (cheaper, and better ride in my opinion), it will end up being the same price, but, better... I don't know... I'm even ambivalent in my post about it.

Anyway, even stock, no complaints... I would like that little brushed metal ring that goes around the manual... anybody have any ideas on how to dress THAT up?

The guages are white on black. The stick shift is...well, normal.

Both of which I can replace rather easily for LESS than 2000.
