Octane Type Question

This might be a dumb question but i'm still gonna ask
Should I start puttin higher octane gas in my car with the current mods I have or wait till I get more equiped? Also, why does the car say to use unleaded only? haha~~Noob Question

since you didnt list any mods Im going to say no. unless you are doing more than simple bolt ons then you will not have to.

the unleaded disclaimer is so no one sues them

Carlos (Score) wrote a whole article on octane on the www.calslam.com Basically, his article explained what makes a fuel have a particular octane rating, how octane works, and why most cars won't experience any benefit from higher octane. Although some other threads on this site claim otherwise, you theoretically shouldn't gain anything from higher octane on a Lancer unless you have advanced the timing, changed the cam, or are running forced induction (turbo/supercharger/NOS). I guess this is a kind of noob question, but it gets asked quite often, so you're not alone. I'm leaving it in Lancer General though since it actually asks the question what if there are mods involved, making this an advanced noob question

so i cant go steal like racing gas and throw that in there....i can get some way to easy...oh what that will blow up my engine...hmm that is why i stick with the cheap stuff....if you can call 1.59 cheap.....

well, 100 octane won't blow up your engine, but I think 1.59 is way cheap, since I'm paying over $2 for 91 octane here in Cali.
