What are those who have headers installed doing to pass emissions when it comes time. Do you put the cat and stock header back in. Is it failing upon visual inspection or exhaust test. Where I am at, we don't have visual test anymore, but want to get this soon but don't want the hassle when it comes time to smog. Any input would be appreciated.

 

I'm gonna try to pass emissions by putting just the second cat back on and leaving my header on.

 

Yeah, let us know if you pass that way. What state are u in, states vary as far as emissions requirments go don't they?

 

the new emissioins in CT hooks right up to the ODB2.. soooo if you have an o2 simulator, the computer should read everythings A-OK, and you should be fine. But im not sure yet, havnt gone yet.

In your state, do you have to go to a state facility to do your emissions test? In NY and now in CT it is done by private shops...so it is easy to get your car to pass if you know what I mean.

 

no, here in NV, you just go to a local shop that has smog equip. Here they are asswipes though, I bought my wife a 2001 x-terra and I've had to smog it twice already, two times in three years for a 01? Buncha crap. I wondering because if the header and dp is gonna fail me, I don't want to put it on ya know.

 

im going to cross my fingers and hope i pass it, lol. btw i have the kamikazi headers with the 2nd cat in again.

My inspections up at the end of march. I have RRM header and test pipe. I'm putting the second cat back in for the test. In NY they put a breather in your exhaust and look for your cat. Hopefully they won't look for 2.

 

IILancer make sure u post if u passed or not, as i am also an IL citizen with emission testings and they suck...so if u fail...than ill...put 2 hi-flo cats on lol

 

I'm in Washington state and my emissions is coming up this year. Gonna be a few months, not sure exactly when. I'll be sure to post up when I go though.

But if you have the kamikazi header - there is no way u can have 2 cats b/c the DP takes away the first one i believe.

well, by changin out the header, the first cat is gone. so you would only have one left. just go to a small place and tell em youll pay more to pass your car, simple as that.
