To me, a splitter makes more sense on a FWD car than a rear spoiler or wing, since the drive wheels are up front.

Rear downforce still has its place. At high speeds, the rear tires can lose traction (as you well know). It's just not as important.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with a loose rear end on my Lancer. Although it might if I started using toe-out on the track.

cf splitters would be frickin awesome, especially if you could ge tthem to match your kits, ex) kent style...hmmm, or a universal one, im not sure that the perimeter of most of the lancer body kits out there are that much different in shape than the stock lip...something to think about...

I was actually trying to figure that out recently. If they are attached to the front lip, it would probably only flex the front lip downward... although the nose pointing towards the ground might cause more air to go over the car and less under the car, creating more downforce. And if they were somehow attached to the frame or a metal part of the body, they would apply direct downforce to the car. Of course, surface area and angle plays a role here. That's why people have these huge plexiglass spoilers at about 75 degree angles on the backs of their Miatas at autocross events. But I agree, they would look nice even if they didn't work. I should verify that the SCCA rules allow them in STS class.

Do they serve any purpose on the rear bumper? (w/o intent to sound like flaming, but curious)

Can you tell a difference of having them or not at speeds under 100mph?

Not to sound naive/ignorant, is that the rrm front lip or stock front lip?
