Thumbs up Check out these Short Shifters w/ Chrome Knob

I just talked to Street Customs and they said that they just received their shipment of short shifters with the chrome shift knob. They are selling them for $38.00 shipped to your door. I have one of these and I coudln't be happier. I have heard that the B&M Shifters are a waste of money, and I don't think there is a short shifter better out there on the market.

I got it and installed it on Sunday. I'm very happy with the shifter, But the knob is uglier than my mother-in-law. I would prefer the stock knob but it won't fit

Exactly what I got, even on the purple cardboard. I just don't like the knob, but if you do go for yours. I can say it fits well and works well. No complaints about performance, except that it took 3 days to break it in.

has anyone compared this shifter to B&M that can make a comparison? if it really performs better than B&M, i'll switch.

This is the same shifter that Megan Racing sells. Its a Eclipse/Lancer/Evo shifter. Mine did not come with instructions, but was very easy to install. The shifter knob is removable as it unscrews, however, the threads are too small for the "stock" shift knob to fit on.

I go tmine from them for $33.00 shipped. I am more than happy with the product. Aside from no install directions (which is EASY), I love it. The only downside is that the shift knob is very cold in the morning lol .. I'm gonna find someone locally to powdercoat it for me.

Do you mean the length, or the diameter of the threads. If you're talking about the length, the above link shows you how to overcome that issue

I made my stock knob fit last night. I cut the leather and rubber with a sharp razor, then cut the metal with a sawzall. I cut about 3/4" off.

on the one I got, the threads are smaller than the threads on the stock shifter handle thing. it just slips right over the new one and can't be tightened down. I like the smaller metal one myself .. only problem is that it is COLD in the morning lol

The thread is the same, but the whole is to deep. If you cut off 3/4 of an inch it will reach with no problems. Make sure you retain the little plastic insert.

I purchased this shifter...

I purchased this shifter and am going to install it myself. I was also told that I could create a smoother shift if I replace the bushings while I have it out. Are there a certain type of bushings you can upgrade too? Appreciate any help you can give..

in no way am i trying to discourage manufacturers from stepping into the market of producing quality products for our lancers.

street customs products are junk. thats why theres so cheap.
i had that shifter on my car for a day and hated it. anyone notice the lag time or notchy feeling when shifting? true, its a shorter shift but no matter how much grease you use its always gonna require a little muscle to get it in gears. the pivot point for the shifter is off-balanced for that shifter an in time will f*ck up your transmission.

to sum it all up if Road Race Motorsports doesn't sell it then the part is no good.......
