Engine removal without transmission

I had asked about R/Ring engine without pulling manual transaxle, and was told it couldn't be done easily. I am passing this info on for those that want to do it and leave the transaxle in car. Pull everything you need to down to long block, including balancer. Remove center tranny support that runs longitudinally to allow transaxle to move a bit fore and aft, and support with jack. Separate engine and transaxle, rocking back and forth gently. Turn engine 45 degrees (clockwise) to complete separation, and lift engine out. After repair, reinsert engine in same position, rotate counterclockwise. To line up the clutch and input shaft easily, saw the heads off of two bolts that are a couple of inches longer than you need, install them in the uppermost holes, and allow them to guide the engine back into place, everything will line up easily. Saved me time, and effort. all work was done with all four wheels on the ground the entire time.

Good Luck.
