2006 Lancer SE Timing Issue
2006 Lancer SE Timing Issue
Need a little help on a 2006 Lancer SE w/ 2.0 engine.
Car died at a light, and when brought to a shop, codes indicated timing belt was out. Upon tearing it down we found the belt had caused a bit of damage.
The following was replaced: Timing belt, water pump, pulleys, crank angle sensor, crank angle blade and roll pins.
When we now try to start the car, we get spark at both packs. Plugs are new. We smell gas on the plugs after trying to start, and can hear the fuel pump running when we try & start the car.
Car was hooked up at Autozone for diagnostic codes and returned with no error code. Engine turns over ok, and occasionally we might get a backfire from the engine or exhaust. But it will not run. We have checked & rechecked the timing marks on cam & crank, following the crank to WP to cam to tension pulley sequence to attach the belt. Marks are dead on best we can tell.
Looking for any ideas where to look for my problem. Thank you in advance.

Few additional questions:
If the Cam Sensor is bad could this cause the problem ? (No start w/ no code)
How can someone check to see if the PCM is bad ?
On older cars, I have changed timing belts, and even if your belt is one tooth off, it would still fire up, just idle rough and lack power. Would I expect the same for this car ??
Thanks again...
