theres a thread in this forum already talking about, hate to say it but do a search. Also, they do work to a certain extent, you wont gain 20, but maybe 3-5. I had one in my sentra and i felt a bit faster over 3-4rpms

but it doesn't it makle you run rich. which will cause your engine to have a lot of wear and tear on it.

you want to run your car rich, there is more power there, and it is easier on the car actually. It reduces internal engine temperatures and reduce the wear caused by that. Peak power in a car is achieved near 12.5 AFR, certainly not at the 14.7 that our cars attemp to run at.

So yes the "chip" can work to a very very small extent, but that's about it.

although if you wire it incorrectly you could cause damage. And from what I've heard some of the instructions are wrong. But I don't know the proper wiring, so don't ask me. I believe it is covered in another thread though. So search!

Actually, you want to run a little lean. In the words of Rob, "Lean and mean. Thin to win" look at my dyno results and you'll see a nice flat power curve with the air/fuel running just a tad lean.

As for the resistor, I know it works a little, but it's not as much how much fuel is used. I believe colder air advances the timing a little.

I can guarantee you that you want to run between 12.5 and 13. I've done the lab dynoing to prove it at various rpm's. There are some instances where lean can be better, but peak efficiency and output occurs around 12.5. One of my professors got his doctorate off his research on water/methanol injection. He developed the inital rules for that. He also stated to me that you want to aim for 12.5 ish. So lean is not a good way to go, only a good way to detonate an engine.

Considering anything under 13 is lean and anything over 13 is rich, I think we are both in agreement in a different way here.

edit: just for comparison, I was running right around 12.5 the whole time, while Rhyzin was bouncing between 13 and 14, and he had an unstable power curve with peak numbers not much above mine considering the excessive mods he has.

well anything Under 13 is rich (10 afr is richer than 13 more fuel in a 10 ratio that number than in 13. If you think about it, it means there is less air per fuel with a smaller number, hence a richer condition) the way I view it... and anything above 13 (15, etc) is very lean. You'll see huge temperature differences past 13 You don't really want to go there. But it's also a steep curve after 12. Lose a lot of power when you go richer than 12. But dont' lose as much power when you start going lean toward 13 or whatever. 12.5 is right where you should be, antyhing leaner than that (like 13) is a bad bad idea and how people blow up engines with a turbo and NOS so quickly. Detonation/pinging is more and more likely to occur the more you go from 12.5 toward 14 or what not.

a friend of mine put a chip in his probe, and i asked him how it wired to the car and he said he had to splice it with a ground wire and thats it, i just laughed, opened up his hood, and ripped it out, lol

Naw, you always say things with respect. A supermod had actually asked me to respond and then close the thread (since the ebay chip topic is already in like 20 other threads) but I told him I wanted your response first, as you are a member who knows what he's talking about Now I'm gonna leave the thread open, or split it and title the new one air/fuel ratio or something.
