I know there are extreme forces, but I have never run in to anything like this, and we even have a rally prepped Lancer in our neighborhood. Can't say I've ever even heard of something like this happening, except in DSMs on the track. You want some shattered transmission stories, man, you should see those.

In my experience, however, Mitsu does make strong transmissions. Sure, the sychros on my car suck, but the gears themselves are strong. Full disclosure is an issue.

Aight ladies and gentleman...spoke with Mitsu on Friday and they are agreeing to reopen my file and have a District Manager take a personal look at the problem and see what can get done. N let me tell ya...they were not too happy when I told them about how Billy Young never showed me the supposed 'metal shavings' that they supposidly found, and the fact that they forgot to put the 'dust shield' that covers the flywheel back on. Well the only thing I have to get done is have the car towed 54 miles to Barrett Mitsu in Georgetown where it'll first get looked at by their service manager and then the District Manager. So hopefully this time they see that it wasnt my fault and all. Thanks to everyone who has helped me out with this situation. This was a hard thing for me to go through. 18, new to the whole import/modding scene, n then my car breaks and is down for like 4months. Its all real crazy and I just hope it all works out. Well I'll keep yall posted with what happens in the next week. Thanks again for everything...

Well as of right now...I wont be able to see a District Manager until the end of April...n thats too long to wait. So for now my insurance is payin for it and it went into the shop this past friday. My shop will be takin pics of everything and we are goin to present that to the District Manager. If it turns out to be covered, then Mitsu will reimburse my insurance, if not, then its fixed anyway. so thats the status as of now...thanks again to everyone for helpin me try n straighten this **** out, but patience is not happenin right now, so I cant wait any longer for Mitsu, thats why its gettin fixed without their help. But I'll let yall know what the problem was...

Comprehensive insurance covers any "act of god" type item like that. Basically massive mechanical failures, hailstorms, etc.... Things that aren't anybodies fault yet effect the car.

no.. not anything that is "expendable" like clutches, rotors, etc.... only things that are not normal failures, like a tranny failure. They won't cover your head or your pistons etc... but blowing apart a tranny or the like can sometimes be covered. Depends on the insurance company.. and probably has a lot to do with how new his car is.
