question about carpet and air ride
question about carpet and air ride
does anybody know where to get an air ride kit for the lancer oz? also i am lifting my carpet to put dynomat under it, is the carpet glued down and will i have to do anything to make cling to the floor like it does in new cars?
i have air ride in my lancer and i would only recommend it if you can install and maintain it yourself (cuz its a lot of work to keep everything working properly so you have to know everything about it in case your driving and something breaks) or if your car is going to be a straight show car where you don't drive it as a daily driver.

well its almost impossible to stop all the leaks (since the valves themselves actually leak) so its pretty annoying. the seals on the air cylindars only last a year or so then you have to either rebuild them or replace them. in the winter (if you live in a place thats gets below 32 degrees F) the condensation from compressing the air gets into the valves and they start freezing. then you can't raise or lower your car...or even worse you'll open a valve to go down a little and it will get frozen open and all the air will leak out. then you can't drive your car since its too low and has no shock absorber (air). for the front you pretty much HAVE to get really really good steel braided hose which is really expensive and really good stainless steel fittings for it to not break (since the wheels turn the nylon hose they give you cracks and breaks open). and you constantly have to take out the air tank and empty out the water that builds up from condensation. if you don't set it up correctly you'll have the worst ride in your life.
heheh there are a lot of negatives with air ride but if your very dedicated to be constantly working on it then its great to have. its awesome to start bouncing the car at a light and everyone is looking at you like WTF?!
