2012 Lancer SE exhaust

I'm looking for advice for my 2012 SE AWD, I would really want the car to sound better. From what I understood, most cat backs and axle backs don't fit the awd model? I'm pretty new to automotive stuff and don't know much. I'm looking for a decent sounding solution for the SE without spending too much money on it, I'm a student with a part time job so I can't afford anything expensive.

If you're looking for a good balance of looks, sound, a bit more response and budget... get a custom axle back built. You won't gain anything but rasp from a catback. Keep the stock cat and resonator, basically just replace the rear bulky muffler with a good quality performance muffler, either 2.25 or 2.5 inch and a tip of your choice and you'll be set without being overly loud or raspy. A decent 2.5" fart can will work well too, if you're into that look.

Hmm, maybe that's a good idea, for now, I've decided on a muffler delete, if it turns out to be too loud, I will find someone who can weld me a custom exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler.

Honestly best thing to do is buy a exhaust cannister of your choice look on YouTube for sound clips of the different brands and once you've decided just get a custom pipe 2 1/4 from the CAT I did that myself and it cost me $140 I went with a Greddy RS exhaust and just went to a local muffler shop and asked them to bend me some pipe and install it best tone for my car 2015 AWC 2.4l

I bought mine with a straight pipe and a buddy Club muffler

When I first bought my lancer I noticed it had a aftermarket muffler that sounded great. It’s also on coils so I couldn’t see that it was straight piped until later. But it doesn’t sound like it’s farting, and I tend to get compliments on how it sounds. Now, I’m not sure the cost of all this, but what I do know is the previous owner spray painted a lot of the car green which was done very poorly. I fixed it and made it the factory black it was, but I believe his budget paint job reflects the budget on the exhaust set up.
