Busted clutch on my oz
Just got my car back from the dealership..... Had to get a new clutch at 28000 miles and they said it was worn and the flywheel was heat scorched, new throw-out bearing which they replaced for free because of a defect, and the clutch slave cylinder for free due to a defect which caused a leak in the system and they bled the system. In total it costed me $509.44 for all the labor and parts for that and an oil change. Then they told my dad that it was ALL from me "hot-*******" my lancer! The guy told my dad that a clutch can only be worn down because of how you drive! thats not always true.....There has got to be something wrong with these damn mitsu clutchs! Anyone else have this happen to them?
So the dealer replaced the crappy Mitsu clutch with another crappy Mitsu clutch for $500+. Doesn't sound right at all. You should have upgraded since you needed a new one any ways.
I am kind of having the same problem as you. my car has 70k miles on it but the throw-out bearing has been making a bad clicking noise whenever ive been driving for a while since about 30k miles. I brought it to the dealer and they told me that since i had an intake and exhaust that the engine was producing more power than the clutch could handle so they couldnt cover it under warranty. so when you said that there was a defect in the throw-out bearing, was that for your car or all the other us lancers with manual transmissions?
I have heard through the grape-vine that most lancers have defective throw-out bearings.... and they should not have said that about your mods.... it is still very underpowered for it..... find another dealer to go to....
and i would have upgraded if my dad had not taken my car in for me since I couldnt miss work....

I don't it's the case of crappy clutches. Amongst the G93 mirages, our clutches averages 70-100K before replacement, unless the obvious TC-ing reducing life of stock clutch. Mirages use the same clutch as the lancer and the 2g NT eclipses. The mirages nor the 2g NT ever had rashes of torched clutches for stock or bolt-ons.
When you torched your flywheel, you are doing high rpm drops on the clutch. These are similar symptoms for chrome-moly flywhee, especially on heavily modded 300ZXT and 240's w/ SR20 swaps.
