well, i installed my very first mod to my car last night: the injen sri.
i have to say, this thing is super easy to install. i think it took me maybe 15-30 minutes for the entire thing(take old one off, put new one on) the only problem i had was that i thought they shorted me on nuts, but i found out i had to use the ones from the stock air filter box.
onto pics(click for fullsize shots):

considering how little hardware you get with the kit, i was a bit upset i spent 200 bucks on this thing. not really worth that much at all
then again, this thing sounds awesome, especially the mid range. accelaration seems a bit smoother and shifts seem smoother, but that could all be in my head.

Very nice. Two notes:
Looks pointed kinda high. Make sure it isn't hitting the hood (as mine was). It will burn the sound proofing material if it's hitting.
Might want to consider an air source, as the battery blocks a lot of air flow. I'm considering running some hose from a cold air source to the filter. It would help the engine breath.

Congrats on the first mod! Glad to see someone else is making a functional heat shield for their SRIs. Like others have said before, all you need is some extra airflow to the filter element and you're golden.
man that heat shield plus an air duct and ur in serious business
i think the air duct will force air into the intake and the heatshiled will make sort of a barrier allowing the air only one exit....the intake

just like everyone's saying, you have to get a duct to help direct more air into your intake. urbanknight's setup is the closest thing you can do to almost get as much airflow as a cai. or you could cut a hole into your injen heatshield and somehow find a way to incorporate the stock air funnel you took out from the airbox. the reason being is that although you have the heatshield already, the intake will still suffer from massive heatsoak due to the blockage of air by the battery and the fact that its a short ram. nonetheless, the performance gains are still better over stock, but you'll find it not go bog as much if you can get more airflow.. congrats on baptizing your car with its first mod
