rally or rice??
Fires up www.edmunds.com.....
1. VW Jetta, VR6 is a little costly but there are some nice superchargers out there for both models.
2. Impreza 2.5 RS, its 18k but it has AWD and more hp.
3. Sentra SER is only 17k.
4. Accords bottom out at 16k.
5. Neon. but gah, its a Neon!
Thats just sedans, coupes have Mustangs, Civic Si, etc, etc.. Granted some of these all cost more, with financing they arnt that far out of reach.

K, out of those the SER (higher price) the SI (higher price) and the neon (decent one is higher priced) can stay, plus financing is in Mitsu's favor...having the 0 apr deal and all...I will still stick with the OZ rally as being the preferred rally car, but the SI could probably do some considerable damage.
No way do accords bottom out at 16k? really? o.k. maybe so but those are pretty blah inside and the OZ rally will not only look better but do a better showing at an autox circuit.

I agree, with all the options and 0,0,0 its the best pick.
And aftermarket options will continue to grow!!!
I dont think I will ever turbo it, but I know I will have fun adding many other things.

What about the Impreza 2.5 RS? Yes its more expensive, but say, an extra $45 a month cant be that hard to find. The Scoobys engine also has tons of aftermarket support, AWD, and a bigger engine. So poo poo on you.
what can u do to lancer to make it rally out? stay 15"x7 and get high profile ties? ralli-art strut? and what else u can make it rally?
i say its just easier to make it rice than rally...

Well if you gave me only 16k to pick out a new car to rally I would have to choose the Lancer. But since, even at my first job, where I made $7 an hour and worked 25 hour weeks, I still made $700 a month. Even as a High School student I could have afforded an extra $45 dollars a month. AWD + a 2.5 liter 4 cyclinder is worth the extra $45.

That being said, it will go off road. Look at RMR taking 1st place with 2 races left, they've got 25 more horses in tha car than standard, but a **** load of suspension, body welds, interior treatment. The OZ will hold up quite well in auto-x and rally-cross, I would actually like to see something better than it for the price.

Road Test Editor Liz Kim says:
"And the award for the biggest waste of a hyphen goes to...the O-Z Rally!" No, really, what is the point of this $1,500 trim level? Badging? Wheels? No modifications to the suspension or the weak engine?

Hello new best friend.

i love edmunds... all of the o-z supporters should read that comparison test where it finished 5th out of 6. got a 2.3 out of 10 in the "fun to drive" category... finished last in engine performance, braking, suspension, tires, and fun to drive
oh yeah, another car that should be on this list is the protege mp3, or if you want to add even more $, the upcoming mazdaspeed protege...

My friend has a blue Mp3, its probably the must fun Ive had in a FWD, well there was that one time with my other buddie with a GST (lighting up the tires at speed has to be done to be belived
), anywho. Mp3s are awesome little cars to toss around, the new mazdaspeed is going to be an awesome car.

it's too bad it's nigh impossible to find a used 2nd gen turbo dsm, let alone one of the awd ones. (friends don't let friends torque steer
) damn fine cars, except for that crankwalk thing.
er, ill try to stop hijacking. moral of the story is, for $17K there are a ton of better options.
