If I recall, this topic was discussed a while back and it turns out that in order to make a CAI for the auto Lancer, you would have to use no larger than 2" piping to get past the transmission, and the curves required to do are believed to cause too much resistance. Sure you could make your own CAI, but you'd be choking your lancer. I don't get what people see in CAIs anyway. SRI with a scoop/funnel usually gets a greater volume of air anyway, and the temp difference is less than 3 degrees!

I think that's true, but the hammer is to pound the piping into a bend and reduce it to about 2". IMO, worthless

true true! CAI is way over rated! and besides when it rains you gotta remove it or............ hydrolock!

u wont get hydrolock unless u really mess up, and i also prefer short ram over cai. i also prefer 5spd over automatic...but i bought an auto lancer...go figure

just stick with a short ram, you'll be glad u did. or when u mash the gas you'll get a decent pause before it picks up and go cuz of the distance the air has to travel...rather have air moving 6" to get to the throttle body...or 2 feet?

I have and automatic Lancer and I had the AEM Cold air intake in my car..it fitted pretty fine. If you decide to get the AEM, I think the best way to put it in is from the bottom, you just have to take the time to work it in, and all you have to do is remove the stock filter, just like you do on the manuel tranny......I took my CAI off because I got turbo non IC..

Mayhem, post some pics and maybe a how-to. I still prefer SIR, but for those die hard CAI lovers, if they knew how to fit one into their auto, they would be very happy.
