I'd say in my opinion we could use a little more ummph(Glad they made the MIVEC Engines in the ralliart). But the car is decent compared to like civics, accords and etc.
compare to a 4cyl accord? cause i know a 6 will kill the lancer...cause i just did last nite while i was out gettin some ice-cream...a black OZ tried to f*ck wit me...i gave it 1/2 throttle and i was beatin him by bout 2 cars length...good thing i wasn't in my EVO~! heheheheh

I have a 2002 OZ, so far replaced intake, exhaust, header, as well as some show and shine stuff and I am definitely very happy with the increase in performance. Yes, I agree that is not an EVO, but like it was said before, for that price range not too bad of a car. What I find more aggravating is the lack of aftermarket products for the OZ.

I agree with the car responding to mods well.

1) Added SR intake and catback exhaust. Could definately feel the powerband open up. Nothing major, at higher RPM's the car had more oomph.
2) Cat delete pipe. No noticeable gain, louder though.
3) Header. Definately could feel this one. More power all through, pulled much harder up top.
4) Intake manifold and throttlebody. Bigger boost than the header. Now it is pulling well, breaks loose in 2nd on hard shifts. However, now it sounds really farty...(Civic anyone?)
5) RRM Piggyback. Even quicker didn't realize how much the gains were until I took it out. I sure missed it when I sold it.

6) Jumped over Stage 1 and installed Stage 2 Turbo. Crazy clutch slipping, tire burning, brakes don't work fast.

Sorry to ramble but just my experience on power increases with mods...

Oh yeah, I think my wife's 4 cylinder(2.4 VTech) Accord could take my car pre turbo...

I have yet to see a real lack of products for the OZ. There are several vendors in the game now that offer a wide variety of parts both for performance and looks. Turbo's, SC's, CF hoods, CF interior parts, Shifters, etc... etc! A big thing i've seen is that a lot of people are taking advantage of our interior similiarities to the evo. Gauge cluster mods, pillars, in dash accessories, are all being used on the lancer as well as the evo since they fit the same. I still think the lancer is slow but that's because i'm addicted to more and more speed. To many others it is fast... even NA as long as you mod it a little.

I don't think the lancer is slow, and I have an automatic. Perhaps it's because I drove a Ford Explorer before (the speedometer only went to 80), and that thing started to shake at 55 mph. I didn't buy this car expecting to smoke kids routinely, I bought it because it had everything I wanted and didn't look like ****. It keeps me from getting insane tickets, and that's ok with me.

So true, I was driving a 1996 Saab 9000 CSE 2.3L v6 Turbo and I got a ticket cause I was going too fast on the interstate....... My first ticket Oh well live and learn...

P.S. Not to say my Lancer can't go fast on the Interstate, It's just so much easier wit ha bigger engine and turbo...

Well, I've owned a built LS/VTec 3g Integra, built 1g integra, and an sr powered 1g nissan 240. I definiely miss the hp these cars can put up. And as a matter of fact, I'm tired of dealing with the slowness of the OZ lancers and I'm buying either another 240 or a 1g gsx and swap a bigger turbo and add extra goodies to it. The lancer, by far, is SLOOOOOOW.
And I know for a fact, the lancer can't hang with even a close to stock civic ex and definitely not a civic si, definitely not a 140hp stock integra or the 170hp integra gsr or 140hp stock 240. Maybe can take a civic vx or even a dx....i doubt the hx. I doubt we could beat cavaliers or sunfires. You also have to think, most people who are going to want to race....their civics or integras aren't going to be stock. More people are tuning cars now thanks to fast and the furious (i hate that movie ever came out, but it's a decent movie) I'm thinking, if cavaliers can beat us......we need to either spend more money on the car...or say screw it and buy something with more power and more potential.

honestly... i don't think the lancer is that bad... now that alot of people on the street think they're fast and furious.... its easy to take advantage over these fools even if your slow... just have to be sensible about it... and sneaky hehe

if your tuned and within reasonable hp/tq for your parts you won't pop... Bad tunes/gas/and people who say just one more psi have to get picked up. I've been running 11psi for some time now... i spike at 13 and i'm still on stock rods!

The lancer is a nice all around car... if you have the cash it can be a fast all around nice car. I will agree that there is better and more capable cars out there... but i love my car and i'm sticking with it!

i didn't mean any NOS... i don't think NOS for a lancer is the way to go... there are other little subtle things that keep you ahead of the game.. and also knowing how to drive and shift properly will be a great advantage... finely tuned car also works!
