As you know i have the rrm short ram and i was wondering if it would help get a little bit more air in the car if i replaced the stock rubber piping. I was planning to get the throttle body and the intake manifold and if the stock rubber piping is still in there i dont think the throttle body and the intake mani woud be as affective. Or i could be all wrong amd the stock piping is good enough. Well what do you guys think?

 

Rubber piping has less to do with performance than you think. Injen used a hard pipe there and got less h.p. than stock and a way less than we did. Restriction for the system is now in the T.B. and Manifold. Exhaust side is most restricted at the exhaust manifold (replace with a header.) That is where you should be heading as far as upgrades go.

well that is good to know, what if you take that honeycomb piece of metal out of the front of the mas would that help???? or just mess things up???

d-one, let's not touch the honeycomb, m'kay? the extremely small cross sectional area of each fin of the honeycomb isn't anything to worry about. Replacing an effed up MAS is.

Do not remove honeycomb. It helps mas to accurately measure air. Removed or damaged , the mas get inaccurate readings and the car runs like ***.

Sorry, slight out of topic..do sri's have to have CARB cert? Will the SRI make the car fail visual inspection for Smog in California.

 

I know in Canada (Ontario) the stipulation is that there has to be a heat sheild between the filter and the engine. I think most of the states are that way aswell.
