I would like to purchase new throttle bodies for my car but I do not understand what a core exchange is...

 

you send them yours once you receive the new one. good in the sense that you don't have parts you don't need laying around.....bad in the sense that you don't have parts laying around that you MIGHT want.

 

Sometimes they will charge you a core charge so you have to bring the item back to get your money back for the charge. They then send your broken part away to get it refurbished to sell it.

Is this someone boring yours out? Means they want your stock part sent to them after installing their modded part OR they want yours to mod and send back to you.

 

They do it this way because they don't have a surplus of parts to keep buying, working and selling them. Instead they require the core exchange so that they are able to keep parts in stock. It also helps to keep costs down since it means they have to put out less money forward in the first place.
