questions about exhaust

i am going custom 2.5 catback.

its not mandrel bent. will it sound like a bumble bee??? the exhaust tip has a silencer.

cause without piping my muffler is very deep. will non mandrel bend piping make it sound very bumble bee like?

also im going turbo. will it sound even more bumble bee like?

thanks

what kind of muffler you got?? And do you have a resenator im guessing no because your getting a custom catback. If you have a cheap ebay muffler without a resenator it will.

Resonator is like a pre-muffler. It kills sound before it gets to the muffler.

Look for a fat part in the tubing after the cat, but before the muffler.

I purchased a RSpec Muffler on Ebay and it sounds great...Very deep sound, i also got that resonator on it though..and silencer, but i have the silencer off!!! BUT When i put on the silencer, it makes it sound bumble bee like KINDA...but not really! And Yes ur car will basically sound like shyt if u dont get an exhaust that can handle the exiting of ur engine, with that turbo in it and all!!

just the muffler canister rounded all the way around. no extra piping.

if ur getting JUST a muffler and no piping put on it will be ok

ur exhaust....goes like this..

Header--->2nd Cat--->Resonator(its abuot where the center console is i guess) than piping to the muffler.

I don't recommend getting non mendrel piping. Your 2.5" exhaust essentially becomes more like a 2.0" because of it.

so with that setup. 2.5 with 2.0 bend, would that be very detrimental to my turbo gain? if so how much?

and how much loss will i get with non forced induction setup?

It's hard to give numbers when nobody's gotten dyno readings for the setup(s) you're mentioning.

If you're going turbo though, the more exhaust flow the better, so any decrease in piping equals a loss. Again, as far as how much whp and tq exactly, that's left unknown.

Same can be said about an n/a setup. Without dyno figures to reference, all you'll get is estimates. Although, bigger piping isn't always better with n/a, since too big equals a loss in backpressure and although you'll gain top end power you need to remember that the stock ecu has a rev limiter set at 6250. Any power made after that isn't made at all since we can't rev that high.

The larger piping will make your exhaust note deeper. Whether it sounds like angry bees or not will fall on your muffler more than anything else.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I had no loss of power with a 2.5" manrel bent cat-back. It's been dyno proven to raise HP across the powerband. I don't know why this keeps coming up.

Especially iIf you plan on going forced induction I'd definitely recommend getting a mandrel bent exhaust. It flows better (period). In a turbocharged car the only functions of the exhaust are to reduce emissions (cats), dampen noise (mufflers/resonators) and to relieve the turbine wheel of excess "backpressure" by flowing freely (piping). You want to keep the turbine spinning freely.
