pwned by a dumb a** sunday driver.

Hey guys...

So im driving to a relative's house this afternoon, and im going down monterey and im coming up on the stop light at Ford Road. So there's a bunch of people in the right lane at the light and 1 car in the left lane. As I approach the light (.25 miles away) it turns green and the MDX in front slows down for people who haven't moved yet for the light. I go to pass on the left... im half way into the lane and the mdx pulls into the left lane. I pull into the right lane to avoid him and he pulls into the right lane in front of me. To make a long story short....er... I rear-ended the MDX (the MDX had minimal body damage, just need to replace the bumper) and my bumper almost fit under the MDX's rear bumper. Many of you can already guess what happened... Radiator pushed to the engine... Head lights shattered... Hood folded in half. A claims adjuster is supposed to call for the insurance company tomorrow to let me know what's up with my car.

My questions... would any one be able to guess rough numbers on damage (would this total my car)? How badly can the frame be damaged if the front crash bar wasn't directly hit? Would AAA let me put my body kit on (that i just bought ) instead of charging for new bumper and hood?

Would anyone also happen to have any hookups or suggestions for shops that AAA would approve if it's repairable (in the bay area, preferably 408 area code)?

This blows. Thanks for your input.

From what you said it sounds like $3500.00 at the dealership.
You should do what my friend did.
Make some friends and the Dealership and ask them nicely to jack up the estimiate.
Get you check from your insurance company and then go somewhere else to fix up
your car.
Any body shop would probably be cheaper then mitsubishi.

Mitsu's not going to be doing the estimate because the car wasn't drivable, so it got towed to one of AAA lot's

Ill have to make sure the shop I go to is capable of body work and not just ordering up parts from mitsu.

How does this work... Do i get a check and choose a place to get it done? or do I pick a place, they do the work, and insurance get's the bill?
