where to get laptop dyno?
anyone know where i can get oftware so that i can connect my laptop to the car and dyno it? like dyno software?...any trial versions? shareware?...inputs would really help
Have you tried a websearch? I don't know how you'd plan on connecting the laptop to the ECU in the first place, but I'm sure if the harness/hardware exists then the software does too. The only ways I know of doing this are with aftermarket ECU's (Standalones like the AEM EMS or Haltech, or a more advanced piggyback like e-manage, f-con or the Apex'i or HKS ones whose names I've forgotten). They're not really dynos though. There's really no substitute for hopping on the rollers imo. Measuring WHP without being hooked up to the wheels is like measuring your height with a bottle opener.
I'm not saying they don't exist...I honestly don't know. The real question is if they have harnesses/hardware to connect a laptop to the Lancer ECU in the first place. If you're looking for times and stuff maybe something along the lines of a G-Tech is worth looking into (if all else fails)? I don't particularly trust them either, but they're better than nothing. They use mercury switches as opposed to engine readout. I'm not in a position to say one is better or worse than the other, but the only dyno I'd trust to be reasonably accurate would be a mechanical one.
Auterra has a program called dynoscan i have it for my pda but have never used it for dyno purposes. it is identical to nology's dyno software. www.auterraweb.com
