What do you think...

i pulled out frmo a stop sign...and a lady pulled out from behind a city bus and slammed into my car....

i was pulling across 2 lanes and to the left...(5 lane road)

she was behind the bus..pulled out behind it, hit me....

cop says its my fault cuz i failed to yield, but were gonna goto court about it.

my cars front wheels is at about a 25 degree angle, the hole front driver side was pushed in a good 4-5 inches, the tire was tucked under the front spring...the fuse box was pushed out an inch or so..

so do u think theres frame damage? the air bags didn't go off, and what are the chances of them 'totaling' the car?

if you were merging and thats when she hit you..then guess what its your fault...you have to look when merging hence the failure to yeild...dont think there is frame damage...but you will need new suspension, prolly new axels also

well from what i gather, its technically your fault. i know it sucks, but thats the way the law works. it dosent seem like too much damage, so i'm pretty sure they're not going to total the car. at least it dosent seem like it. good luck with everything. let us know how it turns out.

can you give us the setup a little better.... it's hard for me to visualize what happened.
5 lane road with a 4 way stopsign?
This lady was behind the bus you were in front of- or she was on the arm of the intersection that was to your left?

Hell, draw a picture and snap a digital photo of it.... or just use MSPaint and show us....

At first glance, it doesn't sound good for you.

Here ya go

This is what happened.

my girlfriend was in front of me at the stop sign...the van was behind the bus. my girlfriend pulled out and i pulled out RIGHT BEHIND HER...and the lady in the van was able to see my girlfriend...but not me...so she slowed down for her but i guess didnt bother to look again and hit me.

i was able to see around the bus cuz there is a stop light behind the bus(about 5 car lengths away) and i saw no one was on the other side of the bus....so i went RIGHT AFTER my girlfriend did.

the lady saw my girlfriend and claimed she slowed down...but she still hit me hard enough to push in my door/fender/tire/bumper/hood....riiight.

im totally aware its probably my fault, cuz i got a ticket for 'failing to yield' even though at the time of me entering the intersection it was clear...til the old lady decided to jet out around the bus. it looked like she was about 50-60 yrs old and she was driving a white minivan.

after the accident she was yelling and screaming and i still let her use my phoen so she could call her husband and she said to him "some little kid pulled out in front of me and hit me" even though all her damage is on the front bumper...and mines on my front tire...so she hit me...a guy from the local news paper saw the whole thing and told my mother i was "very mature and composed even while she was yelling and screaming at him, he kept his composure." to bad it won't help me in my case right

w/out further a due....heres the pic

so what do u think?

and how much do u think the damage is...i need a new front bumper, probably hood, new front fender, new axle, suspension probably, wheel, door, and anything within 3-4 inches of the fender..the fender was pushed in all the way to the battery...its not pretty. how much damage do u think it is? any chance they may just total it?

Hate to say it.. Prolly your fault. Number one, how were you right behind your girl if there is a stop sign there? Second, you did cut in front of her; whether she changed lanes or not. You are allowed to go around turning vehicles like she did.

Bottom line; it was an accident. Try not to focus on blame; it's not worth it. Be happy you're ok!!

I wish you the best!! I would fight it too.. You never know what might happen!! Good luck, I'm glad everyone is OK!

damn... its hard to say, like every one said it may be ur fualt, but if you go to court i think u can fight it. I dunno, to me it sounds like reckless driving on her part. I mean IF you stopped at the sign, saw the bus turning and everything else was clear than u went, but she was impatient and pulled out and drove right into ya. But if they go completly by the book, u might be in some trouble.

I say its her fualt in my opinion...i bet if the roles were switched around, where you hit her while she was turning. It would probably be your fualt still...all because shes an old lady and your a young adult...But like i said thats just my two cents

lol yeah i was thinking of trying the whole 'reckless driving' thing on her behalf...im just trying to get the ticket dismissed.

as for a picture of the damage...insurance company is going to look at it tomorrow, than i can get whatever i want off of it...like my tv and ps2 and cd player and cd's i hope. ill be able to take pics when they finish. uh...just imagine its crushed in 3 inches where the outside part of the fender is almost touching the battery, the headlight is all broken into pieces(i got a new passenger headlight assembly from my last accident...now if they fix it i got a new driver side one lol) the bumper is mashed in, the hood was bent up, the door was bent in...its not pretty at all...and since its a 'metallic' paint job, they almost repaint the whole car for it to match.

my last accident where all i did was replace the fender and headlight and stuff it was like $1700...so im sure needing a whole new drivershaft/suspension/steering etc etc it will be close to 4-5k. i think it will get totaled...i kinda of want it to..cuz i know it won't be the same if they fix it.

My sister rear-ended someone while driving my lancer, about $7000 worth of front end damage. the front radiator support was replaced along with everything up front. Subframe was crumpled, was straightened out.

So I'm guesing subframe == bg
