Question Dose it matter?

Has anyone taken there heat shield off their engine? I have heard good things on it, and not so good things. It's good for the engine to breath, but it heats the compartment up too much. Can I get some info on this please? Tell me what you think.

I'd think it'd be a pretty bad thing if you have a short ram. Same time, that engine compartment is pretty open, you know? That's why the 2.4L in the outlander doesn't have a heatshield... there's enough room for the heat to disperse. How that would help the engine to breathe better... I'd like someone to elaborate.

So why would take off the heat shield? It's there to keep underhood temps down since the exhaust manifold is the hottest part of your rig save for the combustion chamber. I'd keep the shield on 'til you can put something like header tape on. I know I wouldn't want to see those rusty ol' runners.

i'd keep the heat shield on. uhm you could paint the header with some high temp paint and that will make it look nicer and the lil bit of ceramic will give some kind of insulation.

even if you have a CAI, the engine temperature will affect the intake temperature since the intake pipe would get close to the headers and will heat up the pipe.

an option to the heat shield is some header wrap by DEI. that works pretty well
