How much would this cost to get done and how much does it cost? I got a used intercooler and the finish looks pretty bad. I also want it anodized black so it isnt too visible.

 

i'm not sure about annodizing, but that might negate the cooling effect of te intercooler. i'v ehear that radiator paint works and doens't keep too much heat on the IC. that's just what i've heard though. some one else who's done this or knows more than I can comment?

 

anodizing does not "negate" the effectiveness of the thermal transfer of an IC, painting it with a glossy paint does. ive seen ppl paint them with primer and other paints but never radiator paint, but ive heard of ppl doing it. anybody have pics of an IC painted with w\rad paint?

 

Yo, pgmike, run a search in the EVO forum section about painting the intercoolers. There is some good information (and of course poor information) about the affects of painting the cooler.

As for anodizing, check out some local shops that paint or coat automotive parts. I'm sure they will be able to answer your questions. I actually just found a local place that does the same coating as Jet-Hot, which I might do to my turbo housing (if high temp paint doesn't work).

 

Its good your talking about this I was wanting to put the Dimond star sgin on it but didnt know if it would mess it up or not I'll be the pig and do it first and let yall know

 

i have done a search, read a lot the otehr night but didnt find any pics except on a gti and an sti but neither of them used radiator paint, they jsut used a primer. i know that will slightly reduce the cooling properties, but very little, but i dont want the flat grey/black look, i want shiny black. so anybody else want to chime in?
