When you think it's easy..it never is!

After 2 days of 1+ hour worth of work...still cant get the damn strut bar on....you figure take off the two nuts then slap the bar on then tighten the 2 nuts back up...simple i figure and aftre runnign into darnkess two nights in a row i find myself cursing with a bloody knuckle...bar fits over the bolts fine just cant get the damn driver side nut to thread up and tighten down...tired jackin the car up and loosinging the other bolts...but no luck....i dont think the bar is sitting flat on the strut tower casue of the alrm horn is in the way...so if i ever find daylight again ima try and move the horn and give it another go...nothin is ever f'en easy!

Hotshot940 Oct 21, 2004 03:43 PM

what strut bar is it?

gbwaacha Oct 21, 2004 03:50 PM

rrm...i know it fits fine...jsut the installer sucks haha...oh yeah and i lost a nut last night so i had to go to home depot to by another one..ill think of some more things

twardnw Oct 21, 2004 03:50 PM

sounds like an RRM one, I had no problems at all with mine from RD Designs

pgmike Oct 21, 2004 04:06 PM

make sure that you are on a flat surface and hammer the crap out of it with a rubber mallet bc the rrm ones are difficult to get on. PDXRalliarts ones are perfect fitment, i could jsut slip the rear one from him on, but with my kbar from rrm it took me like 30mins and bloody knuckles as well.

jack one side of the car up...or slowly and carefully hammer(with a rubber mallet) each side until both sides are on

gbwaacha Oct 21, 2004 04:27 PM

they bar goes on over the bolts...just cant get one nut to thread...hope i didnt strip it but if i did is the bolt on the strut tower seprate or do u need a whole new assembly?

bahamut Oct 21, 2004 04:32 PM

Get another person to help you.

gbwaacha Oct 21, 2004 04:52 PM

had my pops help...still couldnt thread it...anyone generous to do it for me???? pretty please

4g94T Oct 21, 2004 06:02 PM

uh oh... is it that hard? because im going to be installing my k-bar this weekend

03RallyLancer Oct 21, 2004 07:17 PM

what it is happening is that the k bar is pulling the bolt close to the hole... so even though it fits... its too close for those nuts to screw down... this happened to me... i had to screw that one down first, then all the others... took me about 30-45 min to do. you can always try grinding down the lil lip around the nut.

gbwaacha Oct 21, 2004 08:48 PM

its only the single sturt but im gonna try to find some smaller nuts...the replacement ones i bought fit the thread but are to big and u cant get a socket around once inside the strut bar...ill figure it out sooner or later...and it aint hard it just stupid

03RallyLancer Oct 21, 2004 08:49 PM

o i thought u had the k bar... **** the single shouldnt have a problem

ScLncerboy Oct 21, 2004 11:04 PM

me and kareem installed one on my car today, took like 10 mins, no problems... it's not as hard as you make it sound lol, fit fine, threaded fine, works GREAT!!! o yeah it is the RRM K bar... fit like a glove

that much trouble to fit a kbar? what the hell. so i'm assuming rrm makes them to fit perfect with no play at all. interesting.
