Alrighty, took it off today, and it looks like I wont be able to fill it in and paint it as easily as i thought. We had to screw two holes in for two of the bolts that held the spoiler down. Theres is about a 2 inch hollow piece of metal in between the actual hole and another one, kinda hard to expain but yeah i dont think i will be able to do this.

I'm thinking find out if I can do anything w/ my friends, then see how much it will cost for a shop to fill it in and repaint the whole trunk.
if they give me a high price, i'm going to be searching for a carbon fiber trunk.
what do you guys think?

Thats part of the reason I went with a CF trunk when i put my evo VIII wing on. I didnt want to have to re-paint the whole trunk for just the middle hole. If you dont have a cf hood then I wouldnt get a cf trunk. I think it woud look outa place.

Of course I say go cf hood and trunk. If you dont wanna spend 1,200 or so for those two get it painted. haha. Id guess anywhere from $250-$400 for the whole trunk fixed and painted.

yup, i've decided to not go over 200 for fill+paint
i can get a deal with it but it will still be $$$

i think a cf trunk will look fine even if i dont have the hood,
i forget, where did you say you got yours?
how would the fitment be on an 02 LS because last time i looked on ebay for VIS i think, they had pics of a huge spot for the lisence plate, but my plates on my bumper =/

yeh. thats for 04-06.

I have a seibon cf trunk. I got it from accolade although they dont distribute seibon any more I dont think... I think I got the only one Dave at accolade sold.. lol

fitment will be fine as long as you get a trunk made or 02-03 lancer or evo VIII-IX. Mines a evo VIII trunk lid. I think seibon makes a great trunk. Carbon fiber parts are almost like pot luck. You either get a great one or a crappy one.

also. in he evo setion a guy with the s/n evodave makes trunks. they are the best out there. but i think they are $700.

I did mine probably the most professional way EVER. First I cut out the yellow smiley face part of a Wal Mart gift card and used that to cover the hole from the inside. Then I tore off a few pieces of dynamat I had in my trunk and used those to fill the hole until it was too tight to fit any more. Then I used touch up paint. And I've never had any leaks or any trouble and its not too noticeable.

thats a massive photo. looks nice though.
although you should have put the fish in the bottom left. that way it looks more symetrical with the keyhole.

I think I might do a quick fix something like CoreyJBarron said.
I would much rather get a piggyback than a trunk =/

Yeah I've had the fish since before I debadged and i probably should move it to the bottom left. And I just got a piggy a few weeks ago for $171 shipped. So I got my piggy and my trunk in good condition im a happy camper.
