Im getting ready to change my timing belt in about a week or so, can anyone show me where the diy thread is because i've been trying to find it and i cant.
Someone please help me!!!!

bump ttt, i gotta do a timing belt on my mom's lancer,if anyone knows a "how to" please post

 

its really easy it will take you about 20 min maybe less

 

I really doubt that a timing belt will take 20 minutes or less to change

 

Well, doing a little research on my belts changes tomorrow...I'll see about doing it as quick (but right) as possible. And mayb even a DIY quide?

dude ten... mins? to change the timing belt... i call bull sheet!!
if ur changing ur timing belt its time to change; the ac/power steering belt, the alternator belt, your water pump, your timing belt tensioner, and since your going to take it off...get a rrm crank pully and install it!! go to mr-auto-parts.com for everything except the tensioner which you can get from autopartsgo.com

 

i replaced all of that by myself in 5 hours with no directions.

for real i wann know how to do it super fast also ha ha ha but just another suggestion taking your motor mount off makes everything easier

 

guess some people just don't know what they're doing... so easy even a freakin caveman can do it. probably not as fast as others... none the less, yes ten minutes and it was done. i only changed it because i installed the crank pulley. oh yeah, Having the Right tools for the job makes things faster as well.

 

lt take 3 to 4 hours to do it...

You have to removed the AC/PS belt, Alternator belt.
Removed the Crank Pulley
Removed the timming side engine mount
Removed a steel bracket
removed the upper and lower timing belt cover.
Align the timing mark
Released tension on the timing belt
Change your water pump if you want to change it
Put the new timing belt in place and tking care to not bend it to much.
Put tesion on it.
Check for the timing mark is at the rigth place...

Reassemble everything.

A lot of work and not so easy. You can mess up your engine if you do something wrong.
