The DE, ES, and GTS all have the same engine; 2.0 MIVEC inline-4 with 152 hp and 146 lb-ft torque…
I don’t think I would compare a four door, three thousand+ pound, 4 cylinder car to a Toyota Supra though…lol

As far as upgrading the 08 lancer…right now there are only a few parts available on the market…but with enough money, you can make any car a performance car.

Check out Road Race Motorsports for some current aftermarket upgrades;

engine can handle it, its the CVT transmission version of the GTS that is questionable?

no one knows what the tolerence is of the transmission.

Torque conversion from the engine may trigger the CVT to protect itself from full power engagment. aka a high RPM launch from 0.

putting a turbo into play can only intensify the stresses.

Remember the diffences between the EVO X and the LANCER 08 in terms of engine is very little. the EVOX has a variant of the 4B11, the diffences will have to do with its duel clutch auto system it for a transmission.

Until more infor is leaked out about the internals , no one knows for sure.

Get the car body bags out

If you keep it stock (aka if you don’t void the warranty)…push it as hard as you want…10 year warranty to the rescue!

Is it true that the CVT is not serviceable? Mitsu must believe strongly in their product to warranty it for 10 years, if they have to replace it everytime there is a problem. Am I right?

Are you going to be racing a Supra, have general interest in cars and want to know about the differences, or are you contemplating buying an Evo X vs a Supra. If you really can go out and get an Evo X off the lot when it's out, I would clearly figure out what you're going to do with the car first. The "my car is better than yours" thing should only bother people who will use their car for legal competitive racing (auto-x/legal drags) or plan on spending a suitcase of cash on aftermarket . If the latter is true, how much do you want to push a 300hp engine via aftermarket?
