RRM Springs

Did I hear somewhere that you have to cut some bumpstops. What are bumpstops? Basically I wanted to know if I can take off the rrm springs and replace them with the stock springs and the dealer never know I did anything.

From what I saw today (installed Progress spings on my OZ), the bump stops are a large rubber "bushing" on the strut piston that basically stops the pistons travel. It's between the top mount and the base of the actual strut.

Well, I think you could pass inspection if the lowering isn't major...maybe just an inch or two. Then also the color would be the next obvious thing. My Progress springs are bright teal-ish in color...not a chance.

Good luck

I don't have pics, but I can tell you. It's a rubber piece connected to the dust boot. You'll see it on the shock rod. Should be pretty hard to miss, because there's not much rubber in there.

As for how to cut them - any way you can. The RRM instructions should clearly define what amount to remove. Last time I cut bump stops, it was just with a regular pocket knife and some sawing motions....
