Car Won't Start. Help?
I'm no mechanic and I was wondering if someone could help me diagnose my car, an 02 Mitsubishi Lancer ES.
When I turn my key part-way, I can listen to my stereo & move my windows up and down. When I try to turn it over, it tries but won't catch. I've had my battery die before and when that happened there was always clicking. After I tried and tried to turn it over it started to make a noise after trying so many times. But this time its not clicking its more like popping. I can also here the slight buzz (which i was told is the fuel pump).
I tried jumping the car and it doesnt work. Also it was around 0 degrees outside yesterday when i tried to start my car. Today its about 20 and still no luck. Could somethin be frozen?
Possible Related Note: I did have a 1000 Watt amp & 2 12" subs but I sold them last week. All the wiring is there, but I took the fuse out next to my battery so the wire in my trunk wouldn't be hot.
My guess: I think my starter is probably shot, but I don't want to run out and buy a new one. If it is the starter, how hard are they to replace? It's sitting in my driveway and I don't really want to take it anywhere because I'm trying to save up for a new car. I can push my car down to my buddies garage if needed.
Thanks everyone in advance for the help.
